Job Description

Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is seeking a Content Producer. 

The Opportunity

As part of the Marketing & Communications team, the Content Producer will create, produce, and manage video content for Banff Centre, in collaboration with internal and external teams. The objective of this position is to create high quality content that is in line with the strategic direction and digital strategy for the Centre in order to best engage audiences and provide a valuable connection to Banff Centre brand and its products.  

The Content Producer plays a key role in the development and delivery of leading-edge content creation and production in order to fulfill Banff Centre’s mandate to disseminate our story to a global audience.

 Specific Accountabilities
  • Work closely with Digital Marketing Manager and Lead Web Editor on the delivery of the institutional content strategy in line with the overall digital strategy.
  • Lead the creation and production of public-facing video content for Banff Centre in line with content strategy.  Work independently and with on-campus and off-campus resources to develop compelling content to amplify the Banff Centre brand.
  • Creative direction, production and delivery of multiple video content pieces
  • Develop content that is in line with the brand essence for the Banff Centre, communicating stories of the artists that visit and the work that is completed on campus in an engaging way.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining video standards for Banff Centre brand.
  • Research, pitch story ideas, chase, script, interview, produce and edit content, generate original story ideas and identify suitable ideas from others, including partners from all campus departments.
  • Produce feature-length interviews for video series including: research, lines of questioning, background, and interviewing live before an audience as assigned.
  • Mentor, vet and review content produced by Content Unit practicum participants.
  • Review analytics and other data to track the effectiveness of our content.
  • Work with partners internally to acquire the relevant clearances and licenses, including copyright and music clearances.
  • Other related duties as may be assigned.


Requirements:

Qualification and Educational Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in journalism or broadcasting arts or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a content producing environment with experience producing content for a digital/web audience
  • Experience setting up and working with professional-grade video recording equipment
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in producing interviews and other spoken word content and/or visual content
  • Experience developing lines of questioning, interviewing and packaging for video and web
  • Knowledge and demonstrated usage of web storytelling tools (e.g. infographics, interactive design, etc.)
  • Ability to use both Mac and Microsoft platforms
  • Experience using a Content Management Systems (CMS) considered an asset
  • Experience in video and/or audio editing and mixing. Knowledge of Avid Media Composer an asset
  • Knowledge of social media and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices considered an asset
  • Can work self-directed at a professional level and demonstrate excellent organizational and technical abilities
  • Can work under pressure of time, multiple simultaneous demands, and deadlines

Special Requirements

Candidates offered a position with the Centre, in this capacity, will be required to obtain a criminal record check verifying a clear record before a final job offer can be finalized. 

This position will be required to work evenings and weekends on occasion.

Employment Terms and Benefits 

In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, permanent, salaried support staff position, subject to a 6-month probation period.

The salary for this position is between $51,500 and $57,200 annually, depending on experience, working 40 hours per week.  The successful candidate will be eligible to participate in the extended medical and dental group benefits plans and will contribute to an employer-matched pension plan.
