Toronto Summer Music Festival
An international summer Festival that presents Chamber music concerts featuring world-renowned artists and an Academy that provides instruction at the highest level for emerging musicians at the threshold of their careers, thereby creating a unique environment for exceptional artists and music-lovers of all ages.
Toronto Summer Music (TSM) is a classical Festival and Academy that brings world-renowned performing artists to Toronto for an unparalleled combination of concerts and events at Koerner Hall, Walter Hall at the University of Toronto, and Heliconian Hall. The TSM Academy for emerging chamber musicians and singers has swiftly become one of North America`s pre-eminent summer training programs. Toronto Summer Music also runs an innovative Community Academy for adult amateur musicians.
This year round full-time position, reports to the Executive Director. The Development Coordinator will be responsible for Fundraising (50%), Marketing (25%) as well as providing general assistance for the TSM Festival (25%). The successful candidate will be an excellent team player with a sense of humour, appreciation and enthusiasm for classical music, and a strong attention to detail.
conduct research on prospects, including individuals, corporations and foundations
create prospect profiles, create and update donor profiles, assist in analyzing and rating prospects
assist with drafting the case for support and case statements
execute the annual campaign communications: individuals, corporate, foundation
assist with the preparation of government grant applications
thank donors: letters, calls, packages
coordinate VIP festival ticket fulfillment
coordinate cultivation and stewardship events
participate in the formulation of fundraising strategy for TSM and specific projects through meetings and discussions with the Executive Director and Fundraising Committee
assist with preparation of the monthly Fundraising report for the Board of Directors
prepare progress updates on on-going projects and final reports upon completion of projects (e.g. annual campaign, special event, directed giving)
assist with communications: website maintenance, newsletters, blog, social networking (September - May)
Administrative and Festival
coordinate volunteers for Festival
help with Festival logistics coordination including front of house, lobby set-up and merchandise sales
general office administrative tasks as required
other duties as required
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Experience with SUMAC or other donor management software
Excellent written and communication skills
Ability to show tact and diplomacy while working with a wide variety of volunteers, suppliers, and artists
Ability to work evenings/weekends and increased hours during the Festival period (July 13– August 5)
A passion for the arts, classical music, and arts management experience preferred.
