In 2017, DX will launch EDIT: Expo for Design Innovation and Technology, a 10 day biennale world-scale international design festival, that will explore the intersection of design, architecture, innovation, and technology in shaping our future for the better.
Design Exchange is seeking to fill the full-time position of Marketing & Communications Coordinator. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will report to and work closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications and be responsible for the execution of marketing and communication services. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will work closely with full-time members of the DX team, outside service agencies, and manage part-time staff, interns, and volunteers.
This employment contract is for a fixed-term of 12 months.
Digital Marketing & Social Media
Primary coordinator for all EDIT social media platforms.
Social media platforms include but is not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, SnapChat, Instagram, & Tumblr.
Respond to and resolve all patron inquiries received via our social media platforms. Create social content in line with our mandate and current events.
Schedule posts and post engaging social media dialogue/conversation. Grow and foster engaged social media communities.
Assist with social media campaigns and sweepstakes, tracking and reporting results, and contributing to weekly status reports and partner calls.
Monitor other festivals and cultural institutions.
Stay current on social media trends, tracking key competitors, and reporting findings. Be onsite for the run of the 11 day event and provide appropriate live online content. Fulfill commitments to sponsors and partners.
Marketing & Communications
Execute marketing and communications plans as directed. Secure media partners and manage partnerships.
Develop and implement specific strategic promotions and partnerships including cross-promotion with third parties.
Implement admission generating strategies for EDIT.
Develop copy for email communications, memos, flyers, websites, and other marketing and communications collateral, as required
Coordinate with Graphic Designer to implement all printed and online material, including but not limited to brochures, flyers, signage, advertising materials, newsletters, posters, editdx.org (website) updates, content management, social media, e-blasts, web ads and other promotional materials.
Oversee volunteers and co-ordinate distribution of advertising and promotional materials (i.e. posters, flyers, vouchers, etc.)
Assist programming team with invite distribution, guest list coordination, and event coordination.
Coordinate advertising and promotional spend under supervision of the Director of Marketing & Communications.
Analyze, measure, and report on campaign effectiveness post-event.
Benchmark performance against design-related institutions and other festivals. Build a unified view of EDIT visitor journey.
Remain informed with respect to current design programming and events - both locally and internationally.
Update/manage contact lists.
Other duties as assigned from time-to-time
Creative self-starter, innovative, detail-oriented, and has a passion for social media. A passion for the mandate and work of Design Exchange.
Knowledge of the design market and relationships with the design industry and of the contemporary culture landscape in general.
Strong communication skills including the ability to write well.
Related post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline (i.e., Communication, Journalism, Marketing).
Previous social media management experience preferred (minimum of 1 year).
Strong knowledge of social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, etc. and management tools (Hootsuite).
Basic photo editing skills (Photoshop)...
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and task management.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and react quickly to trends and opportunities. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Innate knowledge of what is engaging and ‘shareable’.
Strong working knowledge of Apple computers, Microsoft Office.
