Born in 2011, MonstrARTity Creative Community (MCC) is a not-for-profit arts organization that consistently entertains tens of thousands with its original, innovative and world-class programming.  Key projects include Bollywood Monster Mashup, which is the largest South Asian festival in Canada;  the award-winning Monster Rock Orchestra, which combines hit music with a live orchestra and laser show; and Monster Arts for Youth (M.A.Y.), a program which sends artists into schools to conduct South Asian arts workshops.



Job Description

Summer Job Positions with MonstrARTity Creative Community

MonstrARTity Creative Community (MCC) is a Mississauga-based, not-for-profit arts organization that consistently entertains tens of thousands with its original, innovative and world-class programming. Key projects include:
Bollywood Monster Mashup (BMM), the largest South Asian festival in Canada;
Monster Rock Orchestra (MRO), an award-winning show combining hit music with a live orchestra and laser show
Monster Arts for Youth (MAY), a multidisciplinary workshop program with a focus in South Asian arts, provided within Peel Region schools

MCC is seeking diverse people with relevant education and/or work experience to join the team. All positions are comprised of a combination of hours to be worked remotely, regular status meetings in Mississauga, and on-site hours during event days.

Social Media Assistant

DUTIES
Supporting the Marketing Coordinator in:

Engaging the community & tourism markets via social media (ads, contests, polls, posts and news feeds)
Scheduling social media conversations with artists, community groups, priority groups, and community leaders relevant to our activities
Increasing our followers, likes, shares, retweets and favourites on our social media accounts
Tracking & providing feedback on all social media activities
Blogging and related research
Supporting team members in activities necessary for the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS
Attention to detail, time management, team player, self-starter
Demonstrable above average written and verbal communication skills
Must reside in the GTA and have access to own laptop or computer
Familiarity with Google Drive, Dropbox, and Trello (or equivalent applications) an asset

PR & Marketing Assistant

DUTIES
The PR & Marketing Assistant is responsible for supporting the Marketing Manager. Specific tasks include:

Engaging the community & tourism markets via traditional marketing (advertising, media releases, etc.)
Disseminating print marketing materials & promoting cultural/tourism events at relevant cultural nodes
Increasing our media release distribution list & relationships with media outlets
Tracking & providing feedback on all marketing activities
Marketing research
Support team members in activities necessary for the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS
Attention to detail, time management, team player, self-starter
Demonstrable above average written and verbal communication skills
Must reside in the GTA and have access to own laptop or computer

Graphic Design Assistant

DUTIES
The Graphic Design Assistant is responsible for supporting the Program Coordinator. Specific tasks include:

Creating & designing marketing materials for print & online (print ads, billboards, web banners, brochures, infographics, etc.)
Maintaining consistent branding across the organization, all it’s activities and all marketing collateral (step & repeats, website, banners, t­-shirts, etc.)
Creating and editing of Adobe Flash, animated GIFs and similar marketing assets for online and broadcast use
Supporting team members in activities necessary for the organization.Support team members in activities necessary for the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrable above average written and verbal communication skills
Must reside in the GTA and have access to own laptop or computer
Working knowledge with Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign)

Production Assistant

DUTIES
The Production Assistant is responsible for supporting the Tech Director. Specific tasks include:

Coordinating with suppliers, vendors, venue, security and logistics
Obtaining permits
Scheduling
Advancing tech riders with performers
Liaising with tech crews for A/V, staging, lighting
Supporting team members in activities necessary for the organization.

Volunteers Assistant

DUTIES
The Volunteers Assistant is responsible for supporting the Program Coordinator. Specific tasks include:

Designing a volunteer recruitment and vetting strategy
Implementing volunteer orientations, on-site management, and recognition
Coordinating with established volunteer organizations to secure volunteers for the event
Outreach to relevant community organizations to build long-term volunteer capacity
Supporting team members in activities necessary for the organization.

Web Developer Assistant

DUTIES
The Web Developer is responsible for supporting the Program Coordinator. Specific tasks include:

Updating organization's Wordpress websites while ensuring cross-browser, cross-platform, mobile compatibility and SEO
Website integration with Google docs and plug-ins
Automating common tasks / scripting
Coordinating with the marketing team on creating landing pages and other tracking tools
Supporting other team members in activities necessary for the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS
Attention to detail, time management, team player, self-starter
Demonstrable above average written and verbal communication skills
Must reside in the GTA and have access to own laptop or computer
Working knowledge with Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign)
Proficient with Wordpress

Music Engraver Assistant

DUTIES
The Music Chartist / Engraver Assistant is responsible for supporting the Partnership Coordinator. Specific tasks include:
Creating conductor scores and parts using Sibelius as per organization’s engraving templates
Assisting with arrangements
Transcribing music from MIDI and by ear
Supporting other team members in activities necessary for the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS
proficient with Sibelius, ear-training
knowledge of Pro Tools beneficial

Demonstrable above average written and verbal communication skills
Must reside in the GTA and have access to own laptop or computer

Video Editor

DUTIES
The Video Editor is responsible for supporting the Program Coordinator. Specific tasks include:
Editing performance footage and interviews for use in TV spots, editorial video podcasts and social media
Adding motion graphics / titling for branding and storytelling
Capturing performance footage and interviews
Supporting other team members in activities necessary for the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS
Proficient with video editing software (AfterEffects, Premiere, Final Cut and others)
Camera operation skills are an asset (if candidate owns personal camera, please indicate Make/Model)
Attention to detail, time management, team player, self-starter
Demonstrable above average written and verbal communication skills
Must reside in the GTA and have access to own laptop or computer
