The Toronto Centre for the Arts (TCA) opened in 1993 and is home to over 300 performances and events each year; it comprises multiple performance spaces often used simultaneously: the 1036 seat George Weston Recital Hall; the 574 seat Lyric Theatre;the 296 seat Greenwin Theatre the 150-200 seat Studio Theatre, as well as the multi-use Galleries, Rehearsal Hall and lobby spaces. Popular and classical concerts, conferences, graduations, comedy, family shows, school concerts, dance recitals, lectures, musicals, opera and plays are sold side by side every year, with ongoing educational and community programming. The Toronto Centre for the Arts is looking for a Full Time Production Manager, on a contract basis, to assist with and oversee the advancing and technical preparation of various shows and events that engage the Toronto Centre and its four venues.
The Toronto Centre for the Arts is a versatile facility. Popular and classical concerts, conferences, graduations and commencements, family events, school concerts, dance recitals, lectures, comedy, musicals and plays are presented side by side. Here, at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, it is very important to us that each event is treated with respect and professionalism.
Reporting directly to the Senior Production Manger, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the production requirements for rental productions for the duration of their rental period. This involves working with and supervising the IATSE stagehands as well as being a liaison with the client and the clients’ representatives.
• Oversee the production requirements of our theatres including advancing shows in a timely fashion.
• Function as Technical support for TCA management and rental clients.
• Must be present at all rental “load ins”, strikes, performances and rehearsals.
• Assess and address changing production needs during the course of a rental.
• Work closely with Front of House Manager, supplying information relating to their areas of responsibility.
• Produce documentation, financial or otherwise, for final reconciliation of rental.
• Administer crew payroll
• Have a sense of humour.
• Other production duties, as assigned by the Senior PM from time to time.
Applicants should have 5 years experience working as a Production Stage Manager, Technical Director or Crew Chief. Experience with IATSE stagehands is not required but is preferred.
The TCA is well known as a home for multicultural events in Toronto and any additional languages spoken would be beneficial.
