Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education offers courses that can help you build strategies to enhance your arts management, audience engagement and sponsorship, marketing, or social media promotion to support your creative work.
The Chang School’s Course Series in Arts and Entertainment Administration is suitable for arts managers, potential arts managers, and individual artists. This four-course program has been designed to equip you with entrepreneurial skills to support your creative ideas. Learn from seasoned professionals who work in the cultural industry and develop the confidence to build your business. Past students have successfully applied their learning into projects and employment.
The following non-credit course will be offered in evening classes on campus at Ryerson University in downtown Toronto:
Social Media Marketing for Arts and Entertainment (19.5 hours)
Designed for organizations and artists of all disciplines, this course examines strategies and techniques of media and digital technology for marketing and promotion. Theory and practice are demystified to understand the why and the how. Students will develop their own case study – real or imagined – as a way to build their skills.
Scheduling: Mondays, 6:30–9:30 p.m., March 9–April 20, 2020
Instructor: Victoria Barber is an experienced arts marketer and producer with a demonstrated history of working on large-scale commercial productions, new Canadian content, and site-specific theatre. She is skilled in content creation, audience development, and event management, and she has developed a deep understanding of both the not-for-profit and commercial theatre landscape of Toronto and Canada. Currently the Director of Marketing and Engagement for The Musical Stage Company, Victoria has worked in partnership with a variety of organizations including Mirvish Productions, The Art Gallery of Ontario, The National Arts Centre, Canadian Stage, Theatre Passe Muraille, Yonge Street Theatricals, and The Royal Conservatory. Victoria is a dedicated instructor who has taught at Centennial College, Bravo Academy for the Performing Arts, and Ryerson University.
