WorkInCulture is embarking on an exciting new research project called MakingItWork, an in-depth look at the experience of workers and employers in the arts, culture, heritage and library sector in Ontario. This project is supported by the Government of Ontario.
As part of this project, we’ll be hitting the road for a series of community MakingItWork roundtables across Ontario over the next few months. The MakingItWork roundtables, led by Nordicity, will provide participants with detailed information about the research project, and will also create a space for participants to discuss their personal experiences as employees, employers, artists and/or cultural workers. The primary objective is to gather the narrative and qualitative data that helps us better understand the different career pathways and experiences of work in the broader cultural sector, as well as dive deeper into what skills are required to drive success in the sector.
Our first MakingItWork roundtable will be held in the Kitchener-Waterloo region on May 28, 2018 and is being hosted by our partners at ArtsBuild Ontario. From there, we’ll be hosting MakingItWork roundtables in Sudbury, Kingston, Ottawa, Thunder Bay, Huntsville, Owen Sound, London, Hamilton, and Toronto.
We’ll also be launching a survey in Summer 2018, so keep an eye out!
