AV Technician

Rate Range (Depending on Experience & Education): $21.00-$26.00/hour (less all applicable deductions and withholdings)

 

Job Type: Part-Time, Casual 

 

This is part-time/casual employment in a seasonal industry; employees have the right to accept or refuse calls at the time of offering. 

 

Location: Toronto, ON 

 

Work is primarily located in the downtown core of Toronto, ON and surrounding Greater Toronto Area. 

 

Job Description 

 

Assist in the basic to intermediate set-up and dismantle of audio, video, lighting, LED wall, and rigging equipment, including, but not limited to; conventional and moving lights, cabling, chain motors, truss, speakers, line arrays, comfort monitors, pipe and drape, projectors, fast fold screens, etc... 

 

Assist in the safe loading and unloading of trucks. 

 

AV Technicians will also be required to follow the Ontario Ministry of Labour Occupational Health & Safety Act and are responsible for reporting to the onsite Crew Lead. 



Requirements:


Required Skills  

 

> Punctual 

> Able to lift 50 Ibs 

> Can assemble furniture 

> Can work well with direction 

> Able to team lift up to 150 Ibs
> Ability to work respectfully with a diverse team 

> Has experience working with manual tools 

> Has experience working with power tools (recommended) 

> Has experience loading and unloading trucks (Docks, Lift Gates, Ramps)

> Is familiar with common scenic and structural elements used within live events 

 

Required Technical Skills 

Potential candidates should be able to: 

 

> Run XLR, DMX, SOCA, SDI, HDMI, and AC

> Label cables and follow direction in regards to input and output signal runs

> Set up Fast Fold screens

> Assemble both pin and cotter and nut and bolt truss

> Tie common knots used in live events

> Hang lights, speakers, projectors, and screens to truss 

> Neatly cable truss and create picks 

> Test Mics 

 

Experience in the following is an asset:

 

> Comm Set-up
> Tune RF Mics

> Build LED walls
> Set-up Comfort monitors 

> Set-up double stacked projectors
> Moving Light power 

> Focus an ellipsoidal
> Understands three-phase power 

> A2, L2 or V2


Requirements  

 

>Highschool Diploma or equivalency

 

> Workers Health and Safety Four Steps Certificate (available free online)

 

> Legally permitted to work in Canada 

 

> Has a minimum of 2 years professional experience in theatre, corporate AV, and/or live music 

   OR, has a related post-secondary Diploma or Degree
