Canadian Music Centre in BC
The Canadian Music Centre/Centre de musique canadienne (CMC) was established in 1959. CMC is a dynamic and established charitable Not-for-Profit organization. With five regional offices across the country, the CMC provides access for performing organizations, the cultural community and individuals to an extensive collection of music and recordings (both digital and on-site). Its music rental and publishing services include 24,000 works created by just under 1,000 Associate Composers that are also available online at cmccanada.org. By supporting innovative programming, promoting composers and performers and engaging audiences with education programs, the CMC BC Administrator helps to maintain the legacy of Canadian concert music and ensures the voice of Canadian composers is heard for generations to come.

Job Description

About the Position

Based in our Vancouver Creative Hub, CMC BC’s Administrator is a full-time position.  Reporting to the BC Director, the Administrator is responsible for overseeing the office; coordinating rentals and scheduling rental staffing; serving as reception, including receiving payments and donations; handling bank deposits; overseeing box office and providing support for concerts; maintaining filing systems (virtual and real); managing the support systems; and undertaking other support duties as assigned.

  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work in a highly collaborative   environment
  • Self-motivated and driven to succeed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (fluency in French or any other languages an asset)
  • Ability to interact patiently, tactfully, and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to function professionally and pleasantly during periods of stress
  • Experience in administration is an asset
  • Experience working in the arts or for a not-for profit organization is an asset
  • Musical knowledge and/or knowledge of Canadian composers and repertoire is an asset

About the Candidate

 

We are looking for someone who is friendly and likes people; someone who is passionate about contemporary music; who cares about details but wants to be part of a bigger picture. Are you self-motivated? A team player? Do you want to make a contribution to Canadian culture?

 

The ideal candidate will have a combination of strong written and verbal communication skills; good computer skills including Microsoft Office, Pages, Numbers, and Mailchimp. Working with a Customer Relations Management software (PatronManager/Salesforce) and Wordpress would be an asset, as is experience working in a Mac environment. Event management experience is important and the Administrator will be required to work occasional events and activities outside normal office hours.
