Next Generation Arts

Next Generation Arts is a not-for-profit arts organization serving North and Central Scarborough, that provides resources and opportunities for youth and the community. This includes artistic opportunities, learning opportunities, employment opportunities, but most importantly, opportunities to be leaders in the community.

Our goal is to advance education by providing structured learning activities in the arts to create accessible opportunities that enhance artistic and innovative practices for youth, the next generation of artists, arts administrators, art appreciators and the public in the Greater Toronto Area. Through programming, sessions and professional development with specialized facilitators, we provide our members with teachings and access to resources that allow them to develop their creativity and performance in various artistic fields.



Job Description

Bookkeeper
Part-time (flexible hours, 1-year contract to start)
Salary Rate: $24.00/hour

Summary of Job Functions
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented bookkeeper to join our small but mighty team supporting bookkeeping and finances
 
Duties Include
  • Maintaining the financial books and records, ensuring that all revenue and expenditures are properly allocated in the general ledger
  • Maintaining all accounts payable and receivable, including issuing cheques and managing receivables against bad debt
  • Coordinating and maintaining payroll
  • Staff reimbursements
  • Bank reconciliations
  • All aspects of HST filings and CRA reporting
  • Overseeing issuance of donation receipts
  • Preparing financial summaries for internal use
  • Preparing year-end interim financial statements and supporting documents for the auditors and working with the auditors during the audit
  • Execution of financial requirements for grant applications, proposals and reports to donors, as needed
  • Some general administrative support may be required


Requirements:

  • 2nd or 3rd year CGA/CMA or equivalent experience
  • Experience in full charge bookkeeping
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks, Excel on Apple/Mac operating systems
  • Competencies with CRA reporting and HST filings
  • Strong project management, time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage workload while multi-tasking to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take own initiative
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment and quickly adapt to the evolving needs and deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication and numeracy skills
  • Flexibility with work hours with friendly disposition


Additional Info:

This position is an in-person where the successful candidate will be required to work on-site at its 1121 Bellamy Road North office.
