Job Description

The Writers Guild of Canada is looking for an exceptional communications professional to be our Communications Manager. 

Requirements:

Reporting to the Executive Director and working as part of a team with other employees, the Communications Manager is:

• An excellent writer who produces succinct press releases, web copy, articles, newsletters, and engaging marketing materials.
• A decisive editor who quickly rewrites and edits in-house content.
• An expert in utilizing social media to promote WGC members, comment on industry issues, and enhance the WGC brand.
• A capable researcher who quickly gains an understanding of shifting industry, government, and policy issues.
• A resourceful, detail-oriented organizer of WGC events.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Qualified candidates will have four plus years of communications experience, a degree in journalism, communications, or a related field. The ideal candidate must have the ability to meet tight deadlines in an environment of rapidly changing priorities. A background in the screen- based industry is preferred. Bilingualism is an asset.
