The School of Continuing Studies is a fast-growing, agile, and entrepreneurial business unit that offers world-class language programs and cutting edge professional programs to international and adult learners.

In this role you will provide administrative and organizational support to the Assistant Vice-President (AVP) and the senior team in support of the School’s growth strategy. You will provide executive support functions, such as managing activities, events, calendars, confidential information, communications, etc. But this role is much more! You will lead the coordination of the senior team meetings, major projects, and ensure the team stays on track with plans. You will write for internal audiences and external audiences on behalf of the AVP. You will work with the AVP as a partner in the School’s public relations strategy to engage with media, develop content for articles and presentations, research topics, and engage in social media. You will work with the research team and prepare briefing notes for business development meetings with corporate clients and manage follow-up with clients. You will support new product research by engaging in competitive market assessments to help guide the future of the School.

Requirements:

As our ideal candidate, you have a university degree in a business, communications, humanities or social sciences field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience providing a full range of executive support to a senior leader  in a complex institutional environment and experience developing compelling written and visual communications for a wide variety of audiences. 

You will have a scrupulous attention to detail, and superior discretion. Your personal organization and project management skills allow you to operate in a fast-moving environment and plan and manage projects involving many stakeholders. You can independently research topics and make sound recommendations on diverse topics. You approach everyday with focus, deep engagement, and a great sense of humour.

*Compensation:
York implemented a revised CPM Compensation Framework in 2019. The Framework is a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Merit Incentive Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a performance lump sum Merit Incentive Award.Visit the CPM Compensation page on the HR Website to find out more about York's CPM Compensation Program.
