Fall for Dance North Inc.

Fall for Dance North (FFDN) is Toronto’s premier international dance festival and an Ontario non-profit registered charity.  FFDN’s fifth anniversary festival will run from October 2-6, 2019. Ticketed performances will be held at MERIDIAN HALL (formerly the Sony Centre) and the Ryerson Theatre, in partnership with Ryerson School of Performance. Free programming will be held Toronto’s Union Station from mid-September to mid-October. Additional festival activities will take place in various venues throughout the city of Toronto, including the 3rd edition of FFDN’s International Presenters Program. Our festival has a vibrant and growing team, eager to work with the next generation of arts workers. FFDN was founded in response to the crucial need to fortify the dance audience of the future, FFDN attracts new audiences to experience a diversity of the best established and emerging dance happening in Toronto, across Canada and around the world. Our mandate is to reflect Toronto’s multiculturalism, create an atmosphere of shared discovery, and entice people to attend live dance performance throughout the year.

Job Description

Working closely with the FFDN’s Artistic and Production Teams, the Festival Coordinator will assume company management responsibilities for select festival artists across multiple venues. This opportunity will give the successful candidate a chance to exercise managerial skills, contributing to the smooth operation of the fifth edition of FFDN.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as the main liaison between the FFDN Team and local festival artists (3-4 dance companies)
  • Work with FFDN Team to schedule local festival artist activities, including performances, artist talks, master classes, rehearsals, etc.
  • Ensure local artists receive all pertinent information regarding their performance at FFDN
  • Execute ground logistics plans between venues (for example, distribution of materials to all venues) 
  • Support Executive and Associate Producers with company management tasks 


  • Performing arts/events management experience (for example, production, event and/or stage management)
  • Very well organized and detail oriented
  • Clear communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Knowledge of the Toronto downtown core
  • Adaptable personality - ability to problem solve, embrace ​flexibility ​and ​versatility, ​while ​working ​in ​a high-paced, evolving environment
  • Familiarity with the Toronto dance community is an asset
  • Driver’s licence (G class) required

Additional Info:

Successful applicants will be asked to work on their own computer/laptop. Work can be done remotely and occasionally from the FFDN HQ, located at Yonge and Sheppard.
