Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Operating within the Performing Arts Division, you will work closely with operations, box office, and security to ensure patron satisfaction, comfort and safety. Reporting to the Front of House Manager, you will exhibit passion for the arts and a friendly personality, and will uphold the standards of the department and mandate of the company. Your availability is required primarily during evenings and Sunday afternoons, 3-4 shifts a week.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Recognize all opportunities where you can provide exemplary patron service to all customers and clients using the services of the TELUS Centre.
  • Actively participate in the culture of the building by developing a keen interest in its many components.
  • Coordinate Front of House functions such as patron seating, program distribution, lobby displays, and upkeep.
  • Direct and manage patron-traffic to maintain safe and effective flow in all public areas.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve patron dissatisfaction in an efficient, professional, and engaging manner.
  • Remain current and up-to-date with all Health and Safety Procedures, Emergency Preparedness, Fire Safety and issues of Accessibility.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of events and services available in and around the Centre to be able to expertly respond to patron and client inquiries.
  • Communicate and enforce house policies with respect to late calls, smoking, cameras/recording devices, etc.
  • Monitor quality of stage sound, auditorium temperature, the physical space (seats, floors, railings) and report deficiencies to your supervisors.
  • Other related duties as required.


Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 
  • Experience working in a performing arts venue isn’t necessary, but will be considered an asset. What’s most important is a passion for the arts.
  • Strong instincts and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Charm, personality, an avid interest and personal investment in the arts.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada (have Canadian Citizenship/Landed Immigrant Status or an appropriate Work Permit).
