Job Description

General Manager, VIVA Singers Toronto
 
VIVA Singers Toronto is a diverse and vibrant community of singers, conductors, and educators dedicated to innovative choral music education and an excellent standard of performance.  At the forefront of our organization is a commitment to equity. We are proud to offer unique formal programs in Inclusion through our TD Inclusion Program and Every Voice Matters Chorus; the Choral Leadership and Mentoring Program for aspiring educators; and our community-lead Inclusion Team comprised of choristers and staff. Members of our administrative and educational team work closely together to support our singers, ages 4 through adult.  
 
Founded in 2000, VIVA Singers Toronto has grown to include seven choirs. Recognized for beautiful singing, and creation and composition opportunities, VIVA’s singers thrive by building a sense of community and friendship while fostering strong skills through chorister creation, individual vocal coaching, work with guest culture- and knowledge-bearers, theory instruction, and unique performance opportunities.
 
VIVA regularly commissions original Canadian works. Commissioned composers include James Rolfe, Juliet Palmer, Dean Burry, Andy Luck, Alice Ho, Alex Eddington, Andrew Balfour, and Tyler Versluis.
 
This is a full-time position in a stimulating arts environment, with a budget for Professional Development, and use of a bright on-site office. The General Manager is expected to be on-site Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

The General Manager demonstrates:

•    Superior organizational and communication skills for networking with parents, colleagues, board members, and singers of all ages, backgrounds and abilities;
•    Excellent liaising and networking capabilities with external partners, granting bodies, and arts organizations;
•    Strong financial operations skills in accordance with executing board-approved budget and governmental regulations, preparing accounts payable, and preparing materials for bookkeeper;
•    An ability to work collaboratively, cooperatively, and independently to follow through on long- and short-term projects and assignments;
•    Strong initiative and independent thinking skills;
•    Experience with choral music, classical music, and/or non-profit organizations; and
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including Excel), Wix, Google Suite, Zoom, and Mail Chimp (or alternate communication platforms).
•    Proficiency with social media and other digital platforms is an asset.
All rehearsals are held at Trinity-St. Paul’s Centre (Spadina subway).
