Job Description

Who You Are

Today, we’re looking for an excellent, enthusiastic in-house Graphic Designer to take responsibility for our organization’s visual identity and produce a variety of communication materials, for print, digital, and social applications.

This is a rare opportunity to make a difference in Canadian politics and society, and to create work that inspires and engages the public.

You will be responsible for the look and feel of almost everything we produce, and will help us to achieve a consistent visual identity across a variety of campaigns. You are able to use design to translate data to a broad audience in fresh ways, and produce promotional and other materials that support our advocacy work.

You have experience working in design and production for both print and digital applications, an understanding of social media and video needs, and strong organizational skills to take all assignments from conception through to delivery.

This opportunity is based in our Toronto office, and you will report to the Director of Digital Content.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design all printed campaign materials including promotional items, advertisements, brochures, event signage, etc.
  • Create graphics and manage visual assets for social media, slide presentations, and other digital platforms, including infographics that visualize our campaign messages and research data.
  • Bring our email newsletters and website stories to life by creating, sourcing or commissioning illustrations, photography, etc. (Still photography and/or video experience an asset.)
  • Develop an in-house Style Guide and standards for production, outsourcing, organization of files, approval process, etc.
  • Proactively introduce ideas for new ways to reach our audience.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, manage schedules, deliverables, etc. and oversee quality of materials produced.
  • Experience in motion graphics and text animation is a plus!

  • Diploma, certificate or degree in graphic design or design-related discipline
  • 3-5 years experience working as a graphic designer with proven branding and information design abilities and the ability to take creative concepts through to print-ready artwork.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental design principles; typography, colour, layout, etc. for both print and digital applications.
  • Ability to work quickly within the daily news cycle and deliver on tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in French and/or designing for bilingual applications is an asset
