Skills Development Centre provides vocational and non-vocational strength-based programs, and offers a wide range of products and services both locally and nationally to individuals and organizations. Products and services can be purchased and/or are free (fully sponsored or subsidized). YWCA Toronto’s Education and Training Institute is a vocational college registered with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities offering two certified programs: Professional Office Administration Certificate and Professional Office Administration Diploma. Moving On To Success is an employment training program for low income women, some of whom may experience domestic violence or who are at risk of abuse.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Researches new markets for promoting the Skills Development Centre’s (SDC) products and services;
  • Researches how to contact and offer services to new communities locally and nationally creating new databases of contacts;
  • Identifies new promotion strategies, approaches or ideas applicable to promoting SDC products and services including YWCA Education and Training Institute and Moving On To Success;
  • Collaborates with the Manager of Communications & Marketing in the development and implementation of targeted marketing campaigns promoting new products and services developed by the program; 
  • Responsible for formatting and coordinating local and national promotion announcements, e-blasts, group faxes and newsletters according to the training calendar and other scheduled events;
  • Expands the current distribution list of clients, networks and directories and creates targeted directories and networks for specific client groups;
  • Researches and identifies new promotion opportunities, follows up with pertinent information and arranges meetings with agencies in cooperation with manager;
  • Coordinates and oversees the maintenance of the website activities, social media and related content;
  • Coordinates and leads the production, editing and formatting of publications, training material and multimedia (DVD, videos, webinars);
  • Leads the co-ordination, planning and organizing of events for the program;
  • Supports manager with event logistics including set-up, seating and equipment arrangements and managing special requests from guests.


Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS
  • In-depth knowledge of Marketing, Communications or Public Relations which is normally acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree (Cases for Equivalency will be considered);
  • Three to five years of direct experience;
  • Knowledge of social media and website technology is required;
  • Must possess excellent computer skills and advanced knowledge in Word and Excel, Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat);
  • Good organizational and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail and proven ability to meet deadlines;
  • One to three years of supervision experience;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to think strategically, plan ahead and anticipate needs and issues;
  • Demonstrated good judgement and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience with multimedia and events planning an asset;
  • Life Skills Coach training an asset.
