Job Description

Looking for an adventuresome Research Assistant/Project Manager for a dynamic, cultured, well-equipped home office in central Toronto.

This person will work with the principle on all sorts of projects, provide admin back up, conduct research, run traffic control, and all the while moving between topics nimbly and effectively. Comfortable shoes will be your friend.

Projects and research topics will include:

Vintage photography;

Contemporary art;

Contemporary dance;

Classical piano music;

French language and culture;

Horticulture and garden design;

Epicurean pursuits

Developing a home in the south of France

Wine, collecting and researching.

And that won’t be all of it.

This is a fantastic opportunity to hone skills you don’t even know you have. You will be contributing to a dynamic group where no two days are the same, and nothing’s ever dull.

This is a part-time position, 18-20 hours per week, $40 an hour, with the chance to go full-time.

If you haven’t seen Umbrella’s of Chernbourg, don’t love Jane Austen, cannot boil an egg, and get buffaloed at a laptop keyboard, don’t apply.

But, if you love Cindy Sherman’s work, can’t decide if Nigel Slater bests Nigella Lawson, adore the work of George Balanchine, and get the Devils Wears Prada, then you could be our candidate!

(And if you’re smart enough to look all this up, that might work too.)

Speaking of which, Candidates should have:

  • A Master’s Degree in the Arts, or be working on one at least;

  • A reasonably flexible schedule. That can mean unique hours or weekends from time to time;

  • Outstanding time management and admin skills;

  • Amazing tech skills, with no fear of troubleshooting;

  • Happy to work in a team and as a solo act;

  • Three references from past employers, preferably good ones;

  • A full Driver’s Licence, or be able to get one ASAP;

  • A valid Canadian passport

  • Working knowledge of French;

  • A strong entrepreneurial spirit;

  • The ability to think outside the box, bonus points if you cannot even see a box;

  • A sophisticated, poised presentation but be able to be hands on at a moment’s notice (and we mean hands on!)

  • The ability to think for yourself

  • And, last but not least, a good sense of humor.

Additional Info:

And if you don’t have experience, you should have gumption.  And lots of it.

Good luck.

$40/hour, 19 hours/week, full-time potential

Oh and: Despite your first google search, we are not a documentary film company. That would be "The Locksley Project".

We are a different bird entirely, if you could not tell.
