Upper Canada Playhouse

Upper Canada Playhouse is a professional theatre company located in Morrisburg, Ontario and operating under the juridicttion of Canadian Actors' Equity Association. Its season runs from April through December with a flagship 4-show series and a holiday family show in November/December.



Job Description

The Production Assistant/Carpenter will work directly with the Technical Director, Artistic Director and Stage Management team in the production of the theatre’s summer series. Chief among the position’s tasks will be executing the duties of assistant carpenter in the construction of the season’s show sets. The position also involves working with all production elements including sound, lighting, props and show calls

Requirements:

Candidates will be currently enrolled in or graduated from a theatre production program at the college or university level and/or have comparable experience as a professional theatre carpenter and technician. In addition to experience with the tools and techniques of set construction, the candidate should also be familiar with all areas of production including sound, lighting and performance crew running duties. Experience with scenic painting will be considered an asset but not a requirement. The candidate should demonstrate a good work ethic, excellent and proven problem-solving and communication skills and the ability to use time effectively in meeting deadlines and achieving goals as part of a team as well as independently.

Upper Canada Playhouse is a professional theatre company located in the Eastern Ontario community of Morrisburg, operating under the jurisdiction of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association. It is a mid-sized theatre company with a season running April through December consisting of Spring and Fall live concerts, a flagship 4-show summer series June through October and a holiday show November and December. With the exception of occasional co-productions, all shows are rehearsed and built onsite.
