Atlantic Ballet of Canada

Atlantic Ballet Atlantique Canada is a neo-classical ballet company dedicated to performing original works by one choreographer – Artistic Director Igor Dobrovolskiy. Founded in 2001 by Susan Chalmers-Gauvin, CEO and Igor Dobrovolskiy,  the Company pursues a continuous creative process through collaboration with like-minded artists attracted by the vision and artistic philosophy of its Artistic Director. Atlantic Ballet tours throughout Atlantic Canada, nationally and internationally. The dancers of the Company are a unique corps of artists who bring brilliant technique and transforming characterization to the stage. Mr. Dobrovolskiy uses the solid foundation of classical ballet technique as a springboard for an expressive dance lexicon characterized by intense drama, and powerful, lyrical structures which explore the human condition. Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada makes it's home in a beautifully equipped 7500 square ft space. The location was renovated specifically for the Company and includes two 50 by 50 ft studios with floating floors, change rooms with showers, administrative offices, Green Room and roof top balcony for the artists of the Company.

Job Description

The School of Atlantic Ballet is searching for a Program Manager to oversee the School of Atlantic Ballet educational programming and operations.
We are seeking a creative and positive individual with an understanding and interest in the arts. You must be highly organized, dependable and comfortable multi-tasking.  The ideal candidate is administratively and technologically astute and a personable team player.

The School of Atlantic Ballet is a unique performance based program integrating professional-level training in dance, voice, theatre and more culminating in the opportunity to participate in full-length, fully produced musical theatre/dance performances on the stage. Our goal is to have students reach their artistic potential in a positive and fun environment that helps them develop skills, knowledge, self-confidence and a love of learning.
Students in our programs are taught by educators and artists who work as professionals in the performing arts. The School has an evening and week-end program and a 5 day per week Arts After School Program.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for the daily management of The School of Atlantic Ballet and acting as a main point of contact for both students and teachers/faculty across all after school and evening/week-end programs;
Program Management

  • Oversee all program activities and growth as per the organization’s mission, vision, and values, and its strategic plan.

  • Promoting the School of Atlantic Ballet classes by providing information and assistance to students and parents both on the phone and in person;

  • Building strategies to grow enrollments in all programs;

  • Developing scheduling in cooperation with teachers and Division Principals;

  • Ensuring that all programming activities are held in a safe/efficient and supportive environment;

  • Overseeing the success of all afterschool and evening programming in cooperation with teachers/Division Principals;

  • Assisting in the development of and ensuring adherence to The School of Atlantic Ballet policies and procedures;

  • Planning and assisting with ‘open house’ and special events;

  • Developing and participating in marketing/promotional events, and all studio-related public performances.

  • Transportation of students from school to After School Facilities

Community Relations

  • Attend community events and meetings on behalf of The School of Atlantic Ballet.

  • Encourage and support community collaboration with like-minded organizations and groups.

  • Building relationships with schools, parents and community groups to spread the word about the program and build support and participation in program;

  • Establishing and working with volunteer committees of the School;

  • Maintain an active social media presence for The School through photographs, posts and event promotions.


  • Maintaining all files and records required to meet the standards of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development for our licensed  Arts After School Program;

  • Processing and recording payments from all programs and maintaining financial files and records


Basic Qualifications:

·Post-secondary education with an emphasis on recreation, education, youth work, community engagement, social work, and/or project management.

·A strong interest in the performing arts and education;

·Strong organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal skills;

·Ability to work independently, efficiently and on multiple tasks.

  • Effective communication skills with ability to relate professionally with all level of programming

  • Ability to adapt to a changing situation, solve problems, and think creatively

  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities

  • A self-starter with a high level of motivation and an ability to thrive with minimal supervision

·Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, and working knowledge of communication, website and social media platforms and principles.

  • Driver’s licence

  • This position requires occasional evening and week-end work. Flexibility will be required.

Additional Qualifications & Assets

·Bilingual is a strong asset to the job (English and French preferred)

·A knowledge of the status of the arts and education in the province of New Brunswick

  • Experience working for a non-profit or community organization

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multi-faceted programming including summer camps, day camps and after-school programming

  • Experience in youth development for youth ages 12-19

  • Experience building healthy relationships with youth and community
