POV was founded by industry leaders from the TV and Film production sector in 2007. POV's mission is to address the economic and systemic barriers faced by under represented youth who want to break into TV & Film production, by empowering and equipping them with work-relevant skills, technical training and industry work experience needed to secure sustainable employment in the media and creative industries.

POV's mission is to champion a new generation of diverse young adults with the training and access they need to succeed and add value in the TV, Film and content production industry. We do this so that the content production industry is representative of Toronto's diversity

Job Description

Who you are:

The Program Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the Executive Director in growing POV’s mission and executing its strategic goals.  You will provide operational and fiscal oversight, manage organizational growth, develop scalable programs and sustain an impactful team through collaborative management practices and individual support.

You are an exceptional relationship-builder with high emotional intelligence and the credibility to respectfully challenge the status quo and gain support for new ideas. You are an experienced people leader, coach and mentor who can motivate and empower a team during a period of change.  Well-networked in Toronto’s content production industry and community, you can select optimal program partners, negotiate effective funding terms, manage program delivery, and develop collaborative relationships that provide insight to emerging trends and supports best practices within the industry.

Along with data driven adaptability and fearless communication, you are a champion of diversity and inclusion who can motivate a mighty and multi faceted team capable of collaborating productively and successfully.  You will be in charge of providing inspired leadership for the operation of a growing charity, which involves making important policy and strategic decisions, as well as the development and implementation of operational protocols and procedures. You will also be leading human resources and recruiting, when necessary, and will drive an organizational culture that encourages collaboration, change and impact.
 
An enthusiastic and ambitious candidate has the opportunity to combine analytical skills with creativity to lead POV towards achieving greater operational efficiency and growth.  The perfect candidate will have a passion for POV’s mission and will possess a strong understanding of Toronto’s content production industry and is able to contribute to the organizational strategic planning process.  This role allows a candidate to focus on the logistics of running a charity while working in an creative and growing work environment with regular interactions with industry, community, government, corporate employees, and other professionals.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities

Operations:

  • Ensure organizational operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies and protocols that are approved by Executive Director and the Board
  • Collaborating with the Executive Director, manage fiscally responsible budgets while seeking efficiencies that strengthen operations for all POV programming and events
  • Develop and manage strong relationships and networks between POV and other stakeholders including the TV & Film production industry, community groups, government funders, private foundations, individual donors and corporations.
  • Devise and implement strategies to monitor organizational performance and determine the need for adaptations and improvements within all aspects of POV
  • Support the development of an organizational budget based on strategic priorities, trends and projections and assist the Executive Director in evolving the business plan to maintain the financial health and sustainability of the charity
Programming:
  • Initiate and oversee the successful delivery of objectives, outcomes and targets for programs according to the strategic goals of Executive Director and the Board
  • Coordinate and lead proposal development and initiate funding and in kind opportunities with granting bodies, government funders and industry partners for existing and future programming.
  • Develop and nurture industry & community partnerships by soliciting and stewarding new employers, volunteers and donors for all programs
  • Collaborate with industry and community to seek out and incorporate their insights and expertise to help inform all of POV’s programming and its impact on our participants
  • Remain current on systemic issues affecting TV & Film production and develop programming, and advocacy positions to address exclusion and the Diversity Gap within the industry.
 Human Resources:
  • Supervise all programs staff involved and provide regular performance feedback and resolve complex problems
  • Solicit and analyze reports prepared by staff to determine progress and address emerging challenges and issues
  • Keep Executive Director informed with detailed and accurate reports or presentations of all aspects of staffing and challengesas needed.


Requirements:

Strongly preferred experiences:

  • Demonstrable experiences as a content creator in Toronto’s screen-based industries or equivalent experience working professional working in or serving this industry

  • Practical knowledge, expertise, and working understanding of systemic challenges facing the film, TV and content production industries.

  • Experience in program and curriculum design with a track record of developing and delivering training and skills development work force strategies to diverse groups.

  • Practical knowledge and expertise working with young adults from vulnerable populations and from under served communities

  • Applicable technical knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites and other editing software is considered a strong asset within this role
  • Expertise working with and delivering culturally competent programming to diverse communities including from the Black, Indigenous, racialized, LGBTQ2S*, refugee and newcomer communities
