Organization Description

adelheid dance projects
adelheid is a contemporary dance company that creates performance experiences at the intersection of discplines in a variety of environments including site-specfically, digitally and also in conventional performance venues.

Job Description

Project Manager, Cohort
Cohort is an open-source code framework that enables live performance makers to use mobile devices in their work: to cue audio, video and augmented reality content; to send push notifications; to offer closed captions; to control the devices’ flashlights; etc. adelheid has received funding from the Canada Council’s Digital Strategy Fund to support Cohort to further develop the framework using a ‘sponsored open-source’ model. This will involve a small development team working with a group of partner companies who will use the framework and related tools in their creative projects. Partner companies include: adelheid dance projects, bluemouth inc, It’s Not a Box Theatre, Outside the March, Ivanochko et cie, the Cellar Door Project, Live Action Theatre, and collectif BUS 1.2.3.
Cohort is administered by adelheid. The project’s technical lead is Jacob Niedzwiecki. The project is split into phases, with each phase consisting of a number of two-week sprints. This position is for Phase, and consists of 5 sprints.
This is not a full-time commitment; sprints may not always happen one right after another. We loosely estimate each sprint will require 15-30 hours of work over a two-week period. Off-sprint planning/production time will also be required. While much of the work can be done remotely, in- person attendance at meetings and working sessions in Toronto will be required. Travel within Canada may be required.
This is an interdisciplinary project; we encourage applicants with diverse work experience. We strongly encourage applicants from underrepresented groups: women, people of colour, queer / trans / NB folx, and Indigenous people.

adelheid, our tech lead and dev team will depend on your assistance to develop and maintain a good working rhythm; to build an efficient workflow by adjusting structures, schedules and timelines so we can respond to client needs; and to collaborate in sharing outcomes of our work.
In turn, this will help our partner companies — our clients — shape and navigate a digital development process. It will also make Cohort’s work more visible, increasing its availability as a resource to other artists, and organizations.

•    develop, maintain, and share project schedule
•    draft regular progress reports for partner companies and funder(s)
•    with the tech lead, present progress reports to adelheid’s leadership and board
•    ensure that partner companies have easy access to up-to-date project information
•    coordinate with festivals to plan Cohort workshops and activities
•    assist with Cohort-related online + social media content and distribution
•    assist in planning individual sprints/work phases and coordinating activities of team members

A minimum of 3-4 years Project Management / Producing experience is mandatory to apply. Ideally, the candidate will have experience in a similar role in terms of working with multiple partners/stakeholders.
Experience in the following areas is an asset but not mandatory. The ideal candidate will have experience in at least one of these areas with a curiosity in learning about others:
•    software development
•    digital media production (videos, podcasts, videogames, etc)
•    the performing arts (theatre, dance, etc)
