Organization Description


NABET 700-M UNIFOR is a union of film, television and new media technicians that has serviced Ontario and the world for over forty-five (45) years.
NABET 700-M UNIFOR formed in 1970 and later merged with CEP and CAW in 1994. The Union provided video tape technicians, but later expanded to provide television and film technicians to Toronto's growing production industry. In 2013, CEP and CAW merged to create UNIFOR. UNIFOR is now Canada's largest private sector union, with more than 300,000 members in all sectors across the country.
NABET 700-M UNIFOR currently has over 3,000 qualified technicians in fifteen (15) departments of the film and television industry and is the premier local for Canadian producers who have been signatory to a Collective Agreement with NABET 700-M UNIFOR. Their members crew a show on a non-seniority basis that allows productions to hire the technicians they know are appropriate for the upcoming production. This ensures that the best people are always working on the right production, which is a benefit both to producers and NABET 700-M UNIFOR members alike.

Job Description

We are currently looking for a team player to handle the front office and general administration duties in a fast-paced environment who has a positive attitude and strong administrative background for the role of Office Receptionist. 

Receive Visitors
  • Greet visitors appropriately
  • Determine visitor needs in a professional manner
  • Direct visitors to correct person
  • Ensure coverage when absent from reception desk
Answer Phone Calls
  • Answer and address incoming phone calls in a timely and polite manner
  • Clearly determine the purpose of the call
  • Deal with queries and provide correct information
  • Forward calls to the appropriate person
  • Take and deliver messages accurately and completely 
Manage Mail
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail
  • Prepare outgoing mail for pick-up or courier
  • Organize courier deliveries
  • Monitor and record petty cash payments
  • Balance petty cash
  • Basic cashier duties
  • Basic bookkeeping duties
  • Photocopy and collate documents
  • Fax documents
  • File documents accurately
  • Maintain equipment and report any malfunctions
  • Monitor, control and order office supplies
Organize Meetings
  • Book meeting rooms
  • Inform participants
  • Set up meeting rooms with necessary stationery and equipment 
Administrative Support
  • Prepare correspondence and documents
  • Update databases
  • Organize mailings
  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets
  • Schedule and follow up on appointments
  • Monitor, manage, track and organize deal memos (employee contracts) for all productions
Reception Area Maintenance
  • Keep reception area and desk clean and tidy
  • Maintain and organize reading material
***Other duties as assigned***


  • At least 2-years of working experience in an office setting
  • Previous receptionist experience would be considered an asset
  • Familiarity in answering a multi-telephone line system
  • Pleasant telephone manners with a friendly disposition
  • Punctual
  • Calm demeanour
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Active listener with extensive experience in customer service
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise
  • Ability to organize, multitask and prioritize workload
  • Can easily adapt to fast-paced environments and works well under pressure
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficient with MS Office, Outlook, data filing and entries
  • Willingness to carry out a variety of tasks and volunteers readily
  • Positive attitude and a team player
  • Advanced experience with excel would be considered an asset

Additional Info:

This position is full time with a weekly salary of $788.92. Please note that this position is also part of a collective bargaining unit with COPE 343.
