Job Description

The Writers Guild of Canada is looking for an experienced permanent Remittance Administrator to process payments at our Adelaide and Spadina office in downtown Toronto.

The Remittance Administrator functions may vary to a large degree - from handling basic bookkeeping and banking transactions, to providing administrative support, to examining, at a basic level, contracts, to red flag problems on behalf of the Writers Guild of Canada.  The Remittance Administrator shall also be required to provide information to members, non-members, agents, engagers, etc.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Work closely with another remittance team member 
* Receipt of payment information and associated cheques and logging and verification of same.
* Matching payment information received either on paper or electronically to payments received
* Ensure payments are paid in accordance with the appropriate collective agreement
* Data entry of payments and other data entry as required and verification of electronic payments received
* Create deposit logs and complete bank deposit of cheques as required
* Maintain electronic payment spreadsheets and logs as required
* Provide electronic data uploads to our benefit provider for contributions made on behalf of our members
* Liaise with other department staff or external producers or payroll companies when payment problems are identified or when additional information is required.
* Liaise with and provide reports related to revenue information or refund requests to finance department staff
* Field payment related inquiries by email and phone and write business letters as required
* Balance all electronic and cheque payments as required on a weekly and/or monthly basis, balancing payment information details received and processed with payments received
* Track payments received but not processed
* Some reception coverage

Requirements:

Preferred qualifications:
•    Post-secondary and/or relevant work experience
•    minimum of 3 years of experience in a comparable position
•    solid excel spreadsheet skills including working with sorting, data comparisons and formulas
•    solid basic math skills
•    exceptional attention to detail
•    excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
•    excellent written and telephone communication skills

Additional Info:

This position is unionized under United Steelworkers. Salary range is $45,000 to $50,000 dependent on experience.

This position is currently working remotely but in-office work will be required. Individuals applying should be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination upon hire.
