Job Description

Starvox Entertainment is looking for friendly, extroverted, and professional Venue Supervisors for the world premiere of Illusionarium, an upcoming immersive experience. 

Illusionarium takes the audience through a series of rooms each of which is devoted to a historic period of magic. Through immersive video content, expositions, and live demonstrations by magicians the audience learns about the historic magicians, while witnessing their greatest illusions up close. While there have been parlour magic shows that show small scale magic tricks up-close, and there have been large scale magic shows in theatres that show large scale illusions at a distance, this is the first time large scale illusions will be demonstrated up close, all in a COVID safe environment.

The Venue Supervisors will take control of the full operational functions of the Illusionarium under the guidance of the Venue & Operations Manager; including assisting in the scheduling and management of personnel, management of any third-party suppliers, opening and closing the venue, ensuring the timely operation of the Illusionarium and prompt processing of any customer service needs while ensuring the safety procedures and protocols put in place by Starvox Entertainment are maintained at all times to ensure the safety of staff and patrons.  

The Venue Supervisors duties may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Supervision of Hosts, Guides, Demonstrators and other venue staff during each shift
  • Lead & maintain operations in the Front of House or Exhibit areas during each shift
  • Liaise with Technicians and Demonstrators to ensure optimal operation of the exhibit
  • Assist management in paperwork/protocols/procedures creation & implementation
  • Manage and maintain relationships with third party suppliers, such as on-site cleaners and security staff, as necessary 
  • Lead scheduled rehearsals for our demonstrators, as required
  • Open/close venue, ensuring proper procedures and protocol has been met to safely secure building and ensure smooth operations  
  • Manage cash floats and settle tills at end of day with other on-site team leads (Gift Shop, Coat Check & Box Office)
  • Participation in weekly office meetings, as necessary  
  • Ensure the timely operation of the exhibit  
  • Implement the health and safety procedures put in place to protect staff and patrons 
  • Ensuring that venue staff provide quality service to Patrons  
  • Training new staff and assisting with hiring, as necessary  
  • Assisting in the facilitation, procurement and inventory management of all items necessary for venue operations including but not limited to toilet paper, paper towel, and COVID-19 health and safety products 
  • Write and contribute to a final Exhibition Report at the end of each day, that will discuss the events in both the Front of House as well as the Exhibit itself
  • Other duties as assigned by Starvox Entertainment Management  


Required Skills:
  • Exceptional leader, and overall team player
  • Used to working with many different types of personalities
  • Superior customer service and communication skills
  • 1-3 years in venue operations experience
  • 1-3 years in people supervision/management experience
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include daytime or
  • evening shifts
  • Ideally experienced in managing conflict within the workplace
  • Previous Production/Stage Management experience is an asset 
  • Love of magic and illusions is a definite plus!

Additional Info:

This position pays a rate of pay of $22.00 per hour.
