Innovative Arts is a dramatic arts studio for youth in Oakville Ontario. Innovative produces high quality youth musical theatre productions, On-Camera short films and specialized educational oppourtunities for their students. 



Job Description

The Innovative Acaemy of the Dramatic Arts (IADA) is a Part Time Provate Arts High School for Youth to earn credits in Musical Theatre while still attending their reguar high schools. It is an afterschool program that encourages youth to explore musical theatre in a unique and specialized way. 

At IADA, the Vocal Music Teacher (VMT) will co-create and teach a course in Vocal Music for the annual term in order to help students gain their Arts Credits for their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. They will teach Voice, Choral, Music Theatre, History and Creation as a part of the Music Theatre: Vocal Music course (AMT). The VMT will also Music Direct the IADA Musical performance.

IADA Students attend classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 28 Weeks, starting in Septmber and cuminating in May

Duties and responsibilities

Teach/Create at IA and IADA
Prepare material prior to classes
Build professional but personal relationships with each student, understanding their strengths and weaknesses to challenge them appropriately.
Help facilitate a seamless transition of students from one instructor to the next by knowing and communicating the daily rehearsal/class schedule.
Take ownership of the needs of the department by communicating them effectively to the team
Adapt to many skill levels and age groups
Adapt and Teach the Ontario Arts Curriculum for the IADA Musical Theatre Focus Courses


Motivate
Build a strong sense of self-worth, high personal goals and teamwork.
Help each student understand their character and ensure memorization deadlines are upheld
Build confidence by reinforcing successful moments
Instill a greater love and appreciation of the performing arts


Administrate
Plan fun and effective activities/curriculum
Prepare Lesson Plans, Assessments, Success Criteria and Resources for classes
Input all marks into the Evaluation System
Prepare Midterm Report Cards, Progress Reports and Final Report Cards
Facilitate Parent Teacher Interviews
Prepare content for the students learning materials
Help coordinate data management and respond to emails of all parties involved



Requirements:


Qualifications include:
Extensive training and/or professional experience in Music, Voice, and Musical Theatre
Classroom management skills
Organizational skills
Previous teaching experience required
OCT (Ontario College of Teachers) certification ideal but not required

Tuesdays Prep 4:00pm-5:00pm
Tuesday Teaching 5:00pm-8:45pm
Thursdays Prep Teaching 3:30pm-5:00pm

Mondays Prep 5:00-5:30pm
Mondays Teaching 5:30-9:00pm
Thursdays Prep 5:00-5:30pm
Thursdays Teaching 5:30-9:00pm
