Part 3 - The Inclusive Workplace
YOUR NETWORKS
If you want new people you need new channels for recruitment. If you go to the same places all the time, you will get the same people. Seek new people in new places:
- Explore broader networks by talking to your colleagues, friends and peers from other organizations. Ask them how best to reach specific communities and whether they can introduce you to new networks.
- Open up your mind to the richness of the community you live in – through reaching out to aboriginal centres, LGBQT associations, organizations that serve people with disabilities and new Canadians.
- Try other sources such as employment service centres, cultural community groups, local community centres, local ethnic and community newsletters or newspapers, associations, language schools and organizations that serve ethnic communities.
- Reach out to your volunteer base which can be a source of potential talent and help network to diverse communities.
