Reporting to Akpik Theatre’s General Manager, the Production Manager is a management position that requires a self-motivated, organized individual with inclusive leadership skills who can manage competing priorities in a dynamic and creative work environment.

Salary Range:
$4,000 — $6,500
Benefits:
Pay is per contract. Rate of Pay is determined by size of production. This is a permanent project-based position. Perfect for the person who in an independent contractor in the Arts.
Qualifications and Experience
Required Qualifications and Experience:
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PRODUCTION MANAGER INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Representing Akpik Theatre leadership in Production
- Management and Administration of Production; ensuring resources and scheduling of the building of Set, Costumes, Props, Lighting, and Video designs.
- Close Real Time Management of Budget
- Creation and Management of Production Schedules
- Working closely with the Technical Director and/or Construction Coordinator/Contractor to ensure Production meets expectations of Akpik leadership
- Supervision/Hiring of Production and Tour Team in collaboration with the General Manager and Technical Director
- Contracting creative and technical teams; with ADC, IATSE, CAEA, and ACTRA experience
- Working closely with all venue management to ensure full tour resource and scheduling support
- Supporting the Technical Director on management of technical rehearsals and venue work
- Coordination of procurement and rentals of materials, supplies, and logistics for Akpik Theatre’s productions/tours
- Ongoing enforcement of health and safety regulations established by Akpik Theatre
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- A university/college degree in theatre production or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Production Manager in a theatrical setting
- Proven experience producing accurate show costing in a theatrical environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to maintaining company harmony and collaboration
- Understanding current technical practices within theatre: including sound, lighting, projection and set construction
- Experience supervising staff, technicians, and artisans
- Knowledge and understanding of PACT, ADC, IATSE, and CAEA agreements
- Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), WHMIS and Employment Standards Act (ESA)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings in Vector Works and/or SketchUp
