The Project Manager is responsible for oversight of the operations of the project as a whole. SBF/MSMA takes an intersectional feminist approach to leadership, governance, and management, explicitly making anti-racist, decolonizing, and equity and access-oriented interventions into oppressive structures and practices. The Project Manager ensures the successful development and implementation of annual work plans for research and administrative activities. This role supports the project’s Co-directors in complex and creative strategic planning, based on a high degree of collaboration, consultation, and written and interpersonal communication in French and English. Responsibilities include budget and financial planning, including the preparation and management of project budgets, compliance with funding regulations, and collaboration with financial administrators.

  • Recommend adjustments to overall organizational structure responding to emerging developments in project operations;
  • Prepare an annual project budget combining and allocating of all funding streams and in-kind resources administered through all partners, for the Directors’ approval;
  • Oversee compliance with funding regulations associated with each source and partner organization;
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the project’s directory of individual members;
  • Guide the development and implementation of a strategic communications plan for the project;
  • Maintain and archive accurate and up to date records of Project Management activities;
  • Plan, prepare, and maintain a calendar of the annual cycle of meetings of the Co-directors, and Knowledge Sustainability, Research Practice, and Governance Committees, consistent with the overall project’s annual work plan and budget;
  • Liaise with Co-directors, postdoctoral fellows and Research Cluster liaisons to co-ordinate Cluster activities with the overall annual project work plan.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Fluency in both French and English (written and spoken);
  • Undergraduate degree in Arts, Humanities, or Social Sciences or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Certificate in Event, Stage, Production, or Project Management;
  • Related experience in progressively responsible roles that support operations, in event, stage, production, or project management, or a related field;
  • Proven ability to allocate resources, develop workflows, and delegate within diverse teams to effectively serve project objectives;
  • Experience administering arts council, TriCouncil, or other grants;
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate confidently and effectively with supervisors and other senior colleagues;
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external partners from the academic and professional theatre sectors;
  • High level of cultural competency and ability to work effectively with collaborators from differing disciplinary backgrounds, expertise, and lived experiences.

Preferred or Asset Skills:

  • Experience working in higher education/postsecondary administration;
  • Expertise or lived experience in one or more areas of minoritization contributing to SBF/MSMA research focus: Indigeneity, racialization, disability, gender and/or sexual diversity, linguistic minoritization, socio-economic minoritization.
