Job Summary

Want to join a dynamic team that is working together to build a stronger and more vibrant arts scene and cultural community for the City of Mississauga? The Public Art Internship will provide current post-graduate students, recent graduates or emerging professionals with the opportunity for hands-on experience in the development and implementation of municipal public art projects. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Curator, Public Art, the successful candidate will participate in the following:

  • Assisting with curatorial research, planning and implementation of temporary and permanent public art initiatives and exhibits in a variety of sizes, scale and mediums. 
  • Assisting with the development of project briefs, drafting calls for artists, and art selection processes for various public art projects.
  • Coordinating summer cleaning and conduct seasonal art inspections for various public artworks.
  • Support workshops and community outreach initiatives, including leading public art walking tours as needed. 
  • Preparing material for City presentations, and attend meetings, events, and site visits related to public art projects.
  • Conducting research, benchmarking, and analysis related to public art and best practices.
