Description
Requirements:
Art Advisor is responsible for providing professional advice and guidance to clients on the selection and purchase of works of art. Art Advisor should be able to assess potential artwork locations, and create mockups and presentations to convey how the artwork will look in the space.
As the role requires knowledge of the art world, ideally the candidate is someone who has held positions at an art gallery, a museum, an auction house, or another art institution, or has received substantive education about art history and the art market. As well, the candidate should have a can-do attitude, be a self-starter and be able to work well under pressure and anticipate the ongoing needs of the gallery and team.
- Excellent sales and customer service skills.
- A working knowledge of and passion for modern and contemporary art.
- Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite and database software.
- Previous experience working with an art gallery, auction house or museum.
- Available to work weekends.
- Minimum 3 years sales experience.
- Education: DEC, Bachelor’s degree or similar experience.

Role:
- Selling, guiding, and advising art collectors and clients.
- This position involves significant contact with global clientele therefore utmost discretion and poise are essential.
- Providing knowledge and information about the artists and the art market.
- Administrative support; updating spreadsheets, preparing sales & shipping invoices, inventory management etc.
- Strong Attention to detail.
- Independently coordinate and execute emails and mailings.
- Ability to handle high volume and complex tasks with speed, efficiency and accountability.
- Assisting with the organization of events, openings, private viewings, and special events.
- Administrative experience an asset.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Job Type: Full-time Weekend availability is a must. Pay type: Salary (based on Experience) + Commission Pay
