Overview
We’re a content marketing business expanding our focus into transportation, mobility, and urban sustainability. While we currently serve clients across industries including automotive, medtech, real estate, financial services, translation, tech, and SAP, we’re actively building specialized expertise in transportation marketing and medtech. You can grow with us as we develop this specialization.
If you enjoy researching diverse topics and communicating complex information to various audiences—both through writing and visual content—this role offers the chance to develop deep knowledge in emerging areas while maintaining broad research and writing skills.
Work is usually planned a week in advance, but we also receive last-minute work. Meeting deadlines consistently is essential to this role.
The work is virtual with monthly in-person meetings in Waterloo. You will work 15 hours per week during business hours, with the potential to increase hours as work demands grow. The salary is $23-$27 per hour. This position begins as soon as the right candidate is found. You must be a permanent resident or citizen of Canada, be legally allowed to work in Canada, and reside in Waterloo Region.
Job Purpose
The content specialist will assist with developing marketing content for Lori Straus Communications, a content marketing business expanding into transportation, mobility, urban sustainability, and medtech.
Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Research and write blog posts on topics including transportation, mobility, automotive, medtech, real estate, financial services, translation, tech, SAP, and other industries.
- Write copy for clients in various industries.
- Create graphics and visual content using Canva for blog posts and social media.
- Perform light video editing.
- Edit content written by others.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications and Experience
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience in content writing, or a mix of content writing and marketing
- proven ability to meet deadlines
- proven research experience for marketing purposes
- demonstrated ability to write for diverse audiences
- demonstrated ability to accept feedback
- demonstrated ability to work independently, virtually, and with others
- demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities
- proficiency in Microsoft Word
- proficiency in Canva
- basic video editing capability
- access to reliable internet
- private workspace to maintain client confidentiality
- high-level professional writing ability: produces polished, audience-appropriate content in Canadian or American English
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- experience or demonstrated interest in automotive, transportation, or mobility industries
- basic knowledge of French
- knowledge of Later, MS Teams, and/or WordPress
- comfortable in an Apple environment
