Museum of Toronto (formerly Myseum) is a not-for-profit charitable organization founded in 2014. It connects Torontonians to the city and to each other. For over a decade, we have defined how Toronto communities tell, share, and learn about our unique and ever-evolving city through our histories and aspirations for the future. 

The Museum of Toronto seeks an organized, logical, and detail-oriented individual to join our passionate team as our next Operations Manager. Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Operations Manager will assist with vital operational aspects of the Museum, including day-to-day operations, facilities, procedures, and efficient internal and external output. 

The Operations Manager is responsible for a varied portfolio of providing front of house and back of office management, onsite support, maintaining office systems, building maintenance and space bookings, software and hardware needs, and organizing staff and volunteer events.

Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Oversee purchasing, processing, and reconciliation of monthly expenditures, including petty cash
  • Manage vendor and contractor invoices and automate related processes.
  • Process in-gallery donations and manage program sales revenue.
  • Coordinate budget updates with Associate Curators.

Operations and Facilities:

  • Manage office equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain vendor and supplier records.
  • Coordinate visitor communication and inquiries.
  • Liaise with building management for maintenance and repairs and troubleshoot mechanical and technical issues in conjunction with Urbanspace Properties group
  • Manage office space bookings and rentals and offsite storage
  • Coordinate team workshops and offsites and assist with workshop agenda and materials requirements

Human Resources:

  • Recruit, schedule, and train part-time gallery staff
  • Manage volunteer schedules and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Coordinate office moves and reconfigurations

Technology and Systems:

  • Manage subscriptions and platform management (Slack, QuickBooks, etc.)
  • Liaise with external IT contractors and maintain the organization’s tech infrastructure, ensuring software and equipment are up-to-date

Other Duties:

  • Act as the main liaison for insurance and public organizational information updates
  • Assist with the development of workshop agendas and materials
