NAC presents, creates, produces, and co-produces performing arts programming in various streams – the
NAC Orchestra, Dance, English Theatre, French Theatre, Indigenous Theatre, and Popular Music and
Variety – and nurtures the next generation of audiences and artists from across Canada. The NAC is located
in the National Capital Region on the unceded territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation.

Key activities:
Reporting to the General Manager of Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra (NACO), the Manager of
Orchestra Projects oversees and executes initiatives that support the strategic goals of the National Arts
Centre. This is a supervisory role that involves collaborating with a cross-functional team to manage
projects from inception through closing.
• Oversee the development of the NACO Mentorship program;
• Manage execution of NACO recordings and digital projects, including commercial recordings and
streaming;
• Lead implementation of NACO tours, creating and managing workback schedule, ensuring
effective communication, and tracking progress toward successful delivery;
• Working with cross-functional team, develop programs that enhance the overall audience
experience connected to NACO performances, including podcasts, pre- and post-concert chats,
and other unique experiences that enrich NACO performances and create a memorable
experience for NAC Patrons;
• Work with cross-functional team in both a leadership and a hands-on capacity to deliver largescale
events such as NACO festivals and other activities;
• Oversee successful orchestra operations for all NACO programs;
• Prepare, manage, and report on budgets for activities as part of annual budgeting and forecasting
processes;
• For all projects, identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on
project outcomes;
• Manage and coach staff, effectively communicating priorities, setting goals, providing feedback,
and managing performance.

Required qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Arts Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience;
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience working for a classical music presenting organisation,
preferably an orchestra;
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders;
• Ability to set priorities results to an established standard, and on time and on budget;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
• Experience working with musicians and knowledge of orchestral repertoire and arts organizations throughout Canada;
• Strong leadership abilities, with the ability to motivate others, and promoting culture of collaboration and high performance;
• Demonstrated proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Office pack and OPAS;
• Bilingual in both official languages, English and French;
• Possess a valid drivers’ license.
