Description
Overview:
Reporting to the studio management team, the Production Designer and Fabricator’s key role is maintaining and improving the quality of existing live experiences, while also designing and building effective and efficient props, puzzles, sets, and audio-visual installations for new productions. The Production Designer and Fabricator works 40 hours/week, typically between 8am – 7pm Monday to Friday, with some occasional weekends and evenings based on project and operational timelines.
Additional Information

Qualifications and Experience
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience in carpentry, prop building, electrical work, and other building trades and general maintenance.
- Proficient understanding of physical and digital fabrication tools and techniques.
- Experience with installing and troubleshooting audio-visual and electronics equipment.
- Excellent organizational and inventory management abilities.
- Creative problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to scope project timelines and budgets in a fast-paced, deadline-driven
- environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Must be able to lift heavy materials and equipment (at least 50 pounds), bend, stoop, and reach, stand for extended periods of time, and work in a physically demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Preferred skills
- Experience in designing/building for escape rooms or other interactive design
- experiences.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and other design software.
- Experience with vector graphic creation and laser cutting.
- Experience with electronics: Arduino, ESP Home, RFID, Raspberry Pi, reed switches, relays, servos, electromagnets, laser diode, Adafruit soundboard, ultrasonic depthsensors, LED strips, actuators, etc.with QLab.
- Experience with installing theatrical lighting, sound, and video, and cue programming
- Ongoing Experiences Maintenance and Improvement
- Collaborate with the studio creative team and operations departments to maintain
- quality of existing experiences, updating and improving them as needed (setsand props, puzzle tech and AV equipment, health and safety issues, etc.)
- Collaborate with the studio creative team to design and fabricate unique props, puzzle pieces, and sets for new and ongoing projects.
- Scope costs, resources, and timelines for management approvals and production budgets.Hands, Project specific meetings, and design critique sessions.adaptations and changes.updates/reports as required.
- Attend and contribute to weekly meetings, including, but not limited to, Studio All
- Create FAQs, design briefs, and blueprints to help train staff and track build
- Maintain expenses within allocated amounts and provide financial
- Assist with administrative or operational duties as required.
- Research and keep up-to-date with industry trends, developments, and tools.
- Participate in job-related training activities as necessary.
