Position Summary:
The Associate Producer, Touring plays a key leadership role in planning and executing touring productions. This position is responsible for spearheading venue negotiations, managing high-level logistics, developing and maintaining complex budgets, and overseeing the lifecycle of a tour from initial concept through to completion. Working cross-functionally with internal departments and external stakeholders, this role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in touring, producing, and contract negotiation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Tour Planning & Booking
- Proactively research, negotiate, and secure bookings at performing arts centers, theatres, and non-traditional venues across North America.
- Manage the full tour calendar and oversee hold processes, avails, and contracting with venues.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with venue programmers, presenters, and booking agents to expand company touring opportunities.
- Budget Oversight & Financial Leadership
- Build and manage comprehensive touring budgets, including projections, per-market modeling, and cost tracking.
- Oversee financial reconciliation of tours and ensure all reporting is accurate and timely.
- Evaluate tour viability and provide financial recommendations to senior leadership.
- Contract Negotiation & Administration
- Lead contract negotiations with venues, vendors, and artists, ensuring favorable terms that protect the company’s financial and operational interests.
- Collaborate with legal counsel to execute and maintain all tour-related agreements.
- Production & Logistics Leadership
- Liaise with production, technical, and operations teams to ensure each venue can support the show’s requirements.
- Oversee the advancement process, including technical riders, freight, accommodation, per diems, and travel logistics.
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Act as a primary point of contact for the touring department, ensuring alignment with internal teams including finance, marketing, ticketing, and production.
- Provide regular updates to executive leadership, and support reporting for board presentations or funding partners when needed.
Pay and Benefits
Salary Range:
$60,000 — $75,000

Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience producing or booking tours in live theatre or performing arts.
- Demonstrated success leading complex projects from concept to execution.
- Deep understanding of touring markets across North America, including presenter networks and routing strategies.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience developing and managing large-scale budgets.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Excel, and cloud-based project management tools.
- Ability to travel as required and work flexible hours during tour launches or production windows.
Preferred Assets:
- Experience working with U.S. and Canadian venues.
- Familiarity with Equity, IATSE, and other union contracts.
- Background in immersive or non-traditional theatrical formats is a plus.
