Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Programming & Marketing is responsible for the artistic vision and strategic marketing initiatives of BPAC. This senior leadership role oversees programming, marketing, audience development and brand positioning, ensuring BPAC’s continued growth as a leading cultural institution. The Director will lead the curation and execution of a diverse and compelling season of performances and community programs, while developing marketing strategies to engage and expand audiences. This position also oversees the Box Office and Marketing staff.
The Director of Programming & Marketing will collaborate closely with the Manager of Development & Partnerships to cultivate sponsorship, funding opportunities and community relationships and will work interdepartmentally to ensure cohesive audience engagement strategies and operational alignment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Programming & Artistic Leadership
- Lead the planning and execution of BPAC’s season, ensuring diverse, inclusive and financially viable programming.
- Establish and maintain relationships with artists, agents, producers and presenting partners.
- Develop, manage and execute programming budgets, artist contracts and revenue projections in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Curate performances that reflect BPAC’s commitment to artistic excellence, community engagement and audience development.
- Oversee the execution of BPAC’s presented series, ensuring seamless artist and production support.
- Represent BPAC at industry conferences, showcases and networking events to identify new programming opportunities.
- Ensure all contractual, technical and hospitality requirements for artists and productions are met in collaboration with the Technical and Front-of-House teams.
- Develop and oversee impactful educational and community programming initiatives that foster engagement and accessibility.
- Cultivate and build relationships with artists, arts groups and community organizations to support meaningful partnerships and outreach efforts.
- Design and implement community-focused programming that aligns with BPAC’s mission and enhances engagement with diverse audiences.
Marketing, Communications & Audience Development
- Oversee all marketing and branding initiatives to ensure a unified and compelling organizational identity.
- Develop and implement data-driven marketing strategies to drive ticket sales, visibility, audience engagement and community outreach.
- Manage all digital, print and media communications and promotions, ensuring alignment with BPAC’s brand voice and mission.
- Supervise the marketing team, providing leadership and direction in campaign planning, creative content development and audience analytics.
- Oversees the Box Office team to optimize sales strategies and customer experience initiatives.
- Analyze audience trends and market research to refine programming and promotional efforts.
- Develop partnerships with media, community organizations and influencers to enhance BPAC’s reach and visibility.
Revenue Generation & Partnership Development
- Work closely with the Manager of Development & Partnerships to align programming with sponsorship and funding opportunities.
- Identify and cultivate new partnerships that support BPAC’s artistic and audience engagement goals.
- Assist in grant applications and reporting related to programming and marketing initiatives.
- Explore opportunities for co-presentations and strategic collaborations that expand BPAC’s artistic impact and financial sustainability.
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the Programming, Marketing and Box Office teams.
- Oversee the Box Office, ensuring a customer-centric approach and seamless ticketing operations.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging cross-departmental synergy.
- Develop team members through coaching, professional development and clear performance expectations.

Salary Range:
$95,000 — $115,000
Benefits:
- Comprehensive benefits package.
- Vacation entitlement: 4 weeks per annum.
Qualifications and Experience
Required Qualifications and Experience:
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, marketing, business or a related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a leadership role within a performing arts centre, major entertainment venue or cultural organization.
- Proven success in programming live performance series and implementing strategic marketing campaigns.
- Strong financial management skills, including experience with budgeting and revenue forecasting.
- Expertise in audience development strategies, digital marketing and customer engagement.
- Excellent negotiation, contract management and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of industry trends, artist management and venue operations.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire and develop staff.
- Experience working with ticketing/CRM systems and data analytics tools is an asset.
