Description
This is a one-year contract position to cover a maternity leave. Based on the knowledge and skills you develop during the year, as well as your performance, there may be opportunities for continued employment as a representative in our wholesale department.
You will be the first point of contact providing warm, friendly and helpful service for the company, contribute to building a consistent “front office” company brand that is courteous, efficient, and professional. This position is 40 hours/week with some weekend work required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reception/Showroom :
- Greet visitors warmly and assist retail customers
- Answer phone and general emails, directing them to the appropriate person where required
- Keep showroom organized and refresh display and merchandise regularly
- Keep paper sample binders organized, updated and consistent
Retail Sales:
- Answer retail inquires via email, phone and in-person
- Handle in-person and online retail sales
Wholesale Sales:
- Maintain and grow existing assigned wholesale customers
- Search for, and increase new wholesale customer base
Scheduling:
- Using Google calendar, keep scheduled events and meetings, organized in conjunction with other staff
Event Participation:
- Assist in preparation for workshops, occasional evening or weekend events, meetings and trade shows
- Be available to work or take part in occasional weekend and evening events in exchange for regular hours
Administration
- Track and order office supplies as needed
- Keep equipment in good working order; trouble shoot IT issues with tech support

Required Qualifications and Experience:

- Eager to about Japanese paper and it’s many uses

- Outgoing and efficient with a positive attitude
- Experience in sales and/or customer service
- Excellent written and oral communication with a keen attention to detail
- A strong multi-tasker, well organized, punctual, inclusive and customer-focused
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Bonus skills
- Experience in display, merchandising and colour coordination
- Versed in or has an understanding of databases
- Marketing knowledge or experience
- Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with the business and who have experience using Japanese paper
