Description
The Executive Director is responsible for the Festival’s day-to-day operations and activities. This includes financial management, event organization, and The Executive Director supervises the Festival’s one permanent staff member, a seasonal employee, and coordinate the work of a large team of dedicated volunteers. The small nature of the Festival means that the Executive Director role is extremely hands-on and independent. The Executive Director is responsible for booking the venues, hiring adjudicators, and managing logistics.
The Executive Director reports directly to a volunteer Board of Directors and works in close collaboration with them to ensure the Festival’s success and sustainability. The Executive Director will assist the Board of Directors in their ongoing efforts to expand and diversify the Festival’s fundraising base.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic planning and day-to-day operations of the Festival
- Supervise one permanent staff member and one seasonal employee
- Manage and support the efforts of volunteers and professional adjudicators
- Oversee financial management, including budgeting, reporting, and expense tracking
- Develop and maintain relationships with funders, donors, sponsors, and community partners
- Prepare grant applications and fundraising proposals
- Act as the liaison to the Board of Directors and provide regular updates at 10 board meetings throughout the year (primarily virtual)
- Plan and execute all aspects of Festival delivery, including logistics, scheduling, registration, and on-site operations
- Represent the Festival in the community and at public events

Salary Range:
$40,000 — $45,000
Qualifications and Experience
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven leadership and organizational skills, with experience supervising staff and volunteers
- Background in event planning, arts administration, or non-profit management
- Solid financial management skills, including budgeting and fundraising
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Passion for music, education, or youth programming is a strong asset
- Comfortable working independently and in a collaborative, volunteer-driven environment
- Professional fluency in English is required, French is considered a strong asset
