We also offer a diverse range of youth and adult arts programming. As a not-for-profit charitable organization, Theatre Ancaster is led by a Board of Directors, supported by a dedicated staff, and powered by an outstanding team of volunteers. Job Overview
Theatre Ancaster is seeking a qualified and experienced Financial Clerk/Administrative Assistant to take over the daily financial tasks. This individual would also take on some administrative assistant tasks to help with the overall operation of the company. This role is a part-time, year-round position, for an estimated 25 hours per week. It includes on-site, in-person work with some opportunities for flexible, work-from-home hours.
Reports to: Theatre Ancaster’s Executive Director
Proposed Wages: $25-$28/hour, commensurate with experience and knowledge
Financial Clerk/Administrative Assistant Roles and Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping

- Record all financial transactions
- Manage Accounts Receivable and Payable
- Reconcile financial accounts with recorded transactions
- Maintain an organized filing system for all records
- Safeguard all financial and personal data

Payroll

- Enter timesheets, process payroll, and ensure timely payment to employees
- Track staff vacation and sick leave

Financial Compliance

- Ensure Theatre Ancaster adheres to all financial laws, regulations, and industry standards

Management of Registration Systems

- Oversee and assume responsibility for registration systems and software
- Serve as technical support for registration processes
- Manage fee payments for registration processes

Financial Reporting
-

- Support the creation of all necessary financial reports by Theatre Ancaster’s Treasurer and Executive Director for presentation to the Board of Directors, the CRA, Service Canada, etc.
- Generate and deliver reports on registrations and fees

Pay and Benefits
Hourly rate range:
$25.00 — $28.00 per hour
Qualifications and Experience
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Completion of Post-Secondary Education in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Office Administration, or Business Administration; or the combination of education and progressive work experience in the field
- Minimum 2 years experience as a financial clerk or bookkeeper
- Experience with Quickbooks, Google Suite, Microsoft Office
- Superior Organizational and Time Management Skills
- Proven ability to work with and safeguard confidential information
- Up to date on relevant standards and regulations
- Familiarity and experience with not-for-profit charities an asset
