Description
Toronto School of Art (TSA), an independent, registered charity, non-profit fine arts institution with a proud 56-year history of supporting art education, is seeking a passionate and accomplished Associate Director.
This on-site role is pivotal in driving the management and growth of TSA’s programs and operations, ensuring its continued success as a cornerstone of Toronto’s art community.
The role is currently envisioned as 4 days/week (approximately 30 hrs/week) with the potential to move to full time.
As Associate Director, you will play a vital role in TSA’s daily operations, including:
- Leadership & Collaboration: Working with office teams, faculty, and fostering strong student relationships.
- Program Development: Assisting with curriculum planning alongside faculty and the Faculty Steering Committee.
- Policy & Strategy: Monitoring and developing policies, engaging in strategic planning, and implementing creative marketing initiatives.
- Operations Management: Overseeing internal systems and providing financial oversight.
- Marketing & Community Building: Supporting and developing marketing strategies to strengthen TSA’s community through events and outreach initiatives.
- HR & Team Development: Promoting a positive and collaborative HR environment and providing team support as needed.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
Qualifications Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required, with a preference for backgrounds in education, fine arts, arts administration, or business.
- Some formal visual arts education is essential.
- Minimum of 5 years in a management role, preferably in business or arts administration.
- Familiarity with the Toronto, Ontario, and/or Canadian arts community is a strong asset.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Excel/Sheets, word processing, and basic Canva.
- Ability to learn new software efficiently.
- Strong leadership, organizational, marketing, and communication skills.
- Solid understanding of HR principles and financial management.
- Flexibility to support various roles and adapt to TSA’s seven-day operational schedule if required.
