Visual Arts Mississauga is seeking a Lead Ceramics Instructor to teach our established clay program for children, youth and adults. Our popular hand-building clay courses include templated lesson plans for children age 6-12 years and the opportunity to develop ceramics programs for youth and adults at varying levels.

We are looking for an experienced hand-building ceramics instructor for all ages with formal art training. The ideal ceramics instructor is one with strong teaching experience, kiln tech skills and who works well in a team environment. We are looking for an engaging instructor who is seeking a consistent teaching schedule, including weekends, from September to June in Mississauga with a dedicated roster of students of all ages.

Job Description:

Part-time Lead Ceramics Instructor for a variety of child, youth and adult hand-building clay programs. Our programs run on a session-based schedule, from September to June with a possible evening session during the summer, and plenty of opportunities for growth. Each session is 8-10 weeks in duration. Children’s programs are templated with the freedom to develop introductory and intermediate-level courses for youth and adults along with community-based and corporate art workshops.

Requirements:
• The ideal Ceramics Instructor candidate will be engaging, with excellent communication skills to enable them to develop a good rapport with students of all ages.
• They will have developed strong classroom management techniques, be organized, resourceful and have great problem-solving abilities.
• We are looking for exceptional leaders with the ability to work independently, as well as being a good team player.
• The ideal candidate must be available to teach a schedule that includes weekdays, evenings and weekends
• A post-secondary education in Visual Arts, Ceramics and/or Education is preferred with experience working in and teaching clay hand-building techniques.
• The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable and able to perform kiln tech duties as part of their teaching position to manage the ceramics studio.
• Due to the kiln schedule, it is preferred that the candidate has access to a vehicle and is located ideally within Mississauga as managing the kiln is a requirement of this position.
• Ceramic Instructors are required to provide a valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check prior to beginning work.

Pay Rate:
$27.90 – $33.85 per hour
