We are very excited to share that Work in Culture has received an Ontario Creates Business Intelligence grant to explore how Ontario’s creative industries are using generative AI tools to support their business operations. We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Nordicity and AI expert and advisor Avery Swartz of Camp Tech on this new research initiative.
About the project:
Organizations in Ontario’s creative industries (film and television, book and magazine publishing, music, and interactive digital media) are frequently under pressure to accomplish more with limited resources. This project will explore the potential of generative AI tools specifically for creative industry business operations.
Through research, an online survey, and interviews, we will ask whether AI tools can alleviate the administrative and operational pressures faced by creative industry organizations. We will also identify some of the risks of using AI for administrative and analytical support.
Creative industry organizations will be able to use the insights to situate themselves within the context of their cultural media peers, and to arm themselves with a current sense of the potential risks and rewards of utilizing AI tools for administrative work.
The research initiative will take place this winter and spring, with an online survey launching this February and interviews taking place in March. We look forward to sharing more information about this project and the research outcomes.
