Organization Description

Centauri Summer Arts Camp
Centauri is a sleep-over camp specialising in intensive arts training from youth. Each summer, we hire dozens of arts professionals with teaching experience to run programs for us in theatre, dance, art, photography, film, creative writing and music. Some professionals work with us for as little as 8 days while others run consecutive programs and work all summer.

Job Description

Centauri Summer Arts Camp is an overnight camp in the Niagara Region that offers specialist arts programs for young people from all over the world. We are looking for two FILM INSTRUCTORS to join our faculty for summer 2019; one contract is for a 2-week session in early July, and the other for a 2-week session in early August. We can hire one person to cover both sessions, or two different instructors.
Our film instructor is responsible for designing and teaching a film production course to 16 teenagers, over a period of 4 hours each day, for two weeks. You must have training in film production at the college or university level, industry experience and prior experience teaching - preferably with young people. You should be able to teach a wide range of film production skills and provide hands-on support to your campers as they create a short movie, beginning with an idea and ending with a screening on the final day. Our film instructors are responsible for editing the short films created by our students, so you should be proficient in editing too. A love of overnight summer camp is essential!
If you are an energetic, positive, inspirational filmmaker looking for an interesting creative challenge this summer, please contact us today! Interviews will be held in Toronto in April. You can find out more about us at

Applicants should have completed a college or university course in filmmaking, have some industry experience, and proficiency as a teacher. You must be legal to work in Canada.

Additional Info:

We provide living expenses at camp in addition to a contract fee. Our instructors live together in a staff house in private rooms, most returning to us year after year.
