Job Description

Western Canada Theatre (WCT) is searching for a dynamic, creative PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT HEADS (in PROPERTIES, WARDROBE or SCENIC CARPENTRY) to join our production team in beautiful Kamloops, BC.  These full-time, seasonal opportunities are ideal for someone who is an artist, an artisan, a thrifty shopper, a builder, and an inventive problem-solver.  The Heads of Departments have primary responsibility for their area of specialization.  Reporting jointly to the Technical Director and Production Manager and working closely with the Producer and Artistic Director, the Heads of Production Departments have responsibility in the following areas:


·         Head of Properties

·         Head of Wardrobe

·         Head of Scenic Carpentry

Position Details:
  • Our Head of Production Departments roles are full-time, seasonal positions and includes some evenings, weekends & longer days.
  • The roles are based in Kamloops, BC, and a move to/residency within the Kamloops community is required.
  • A relocation stipend is available.
  • The salary range is commensurate to experience and is between $850-1000 per week. WCT has a generous benefits package that includes extended health, paid vacation, time off around the holiday season, and a flexible work schedule.
  • The successful candidates will ideally start in early October 2021, with some flexibility.  For the 21/22 season, the end of contract is expected to be on or around June 4, 2022 – a contract of 35 weeks. Following the pandemic, our typical season contract is between 35 and 40 weeks per year.  Subject to a successful performance review, our department heads typically are invited to return to work the following season.
